Tentacle Night Light 2.0

I was asked to submit pieces for an upcoming show at Clutter Gallery this summer.

01

Design

I used the original concept from the previous tentacle lamp I made.

02

SLA Printing

The new design was modled in Nomad and printed on the Formlabs 3L resin printer.

03

Painting

Yellow highlights and shadows are tricky to paint. Highlights can be too white and shadows can often turn brown and muddy. To prevent that, I base coated the entire piece magenta and sprayed white from a singular angle to act as my "light source." I then sprayed my yellow over the entire piece and let the base coat show through to give me my desired look.

04

Clear Coat

I applied a 2K glamour clear coat over the entire surface to really emphasize a wet tentacle look.
